Radon is a natural gas formed beneath the earth’s crust. The gas is a byproduct of uranium that is created as uranium decays into lead. While radon is a natural gas that is found in every state in America, it can also be very deadly. Radon is tasteless, odorless, and invisible, making it very difficult to be aware of. This natural gas is often pulled from the earth into homes by the differences in air pressure. Radon can enter a home through cracks in the ground floor, cracks in the walls, through the water supply, and by many other methods. When there is a significant enough amount of radon present in a home, anyone inside is at a greater risk of developing cancer. Radon is classified as a class-one carcinogen, which is a proven cancer-causing agent. Because radon is impossible to see or smell, it poses a significant health risk that many Americans may not be aware of. Radon contributes to thousands of deaths in America every year.

Short-term Radon Test

For a short-term test, we leave a radon detecting device in your structure for at least two days. Radon levels can fluctuate from day to day and even from season to season. While this test may be less accurate than a long-term test, it is a good option for homebuyers to get an idea of the radon levels in a structure before making a purchase.

Long-term Radon Test

For a long-term test, we leave a radon detecting device in your structure for over 90 days. This gives us a more accurate reading of the radon levels in the structure.

High Radon Levels Found?

Good news, if there are dangerous levels of radon in your structure, you can fix it! Since radon tends to enter the home through cracks, sealing up any cracks in your floors or walls will generally help to lower radon to safe levels. In some cases, homeowners may choose to install a special suction system in the base of their home that draws air from underneath the structure and exhausts it to outside the structure.
